Pressoria: a playful plunge into the secrets of the King of Wines

[Article in partnership with Pressoria].

Want to know all the secrets of the festive bubbly drink? Join us in the heart of a former Maison Pommery pressing center for an experience that will appeal to all 5 senses, and reward you with a tasting session at the end of the visit. A unique wine tourism event not to be missed in the Marne department, whether you're a champagne connoisseur or not.

From earth to bubble

To offer a lively, educational account of Champagne production in its region of origin: that's the aim of PRESSORIA, a wine tourism museum located at the foot of the historic hillsides of the commune of Aÿ-Champagne. In an emblematic 1902 winegrowing building bordered by the vineyard, and through an immersive and interactive tour, visitors are invited to observe, touch, smell and listen to the history of this world-renowned wine .

This innovative project follows on from the 2015 inscription of the "Coteaux, Maisons et Caves de Champagne" as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this way, PRESSORIA is helping to shed light on the memory, gestures and lands that have enabled the cultivation of the various Champagne appellation crus in this 34,000-hectare territory. The tour is accessible from the age of 14 months, and has been open since July 2021, to the delight of tourists... and wine lovers.

Pressoria is a truly exceptional place, a pleasure to discover with friends, family, as a couple or on your own!

A sensory experience

PRESSORIA is a veritable champagne interpretation center, inviting visitors on a journey through its history. Thanks to a scenographic trail comprising 10 rooms and appealing to all 5 senses, the experience is highly immersive, with, for example, the reconstitution of a Champagne subsoil, enabling visitors to grasp the specific features of the region's chalky soil, or, in another area, to understand the impact of its climate on vines and landscapes.

Talking of natural elements, an olfactory animation (smell of humus) and a sound animation (sound of insects) plunge you under the earth where roots try to catch you, the perfect place to discover the different nutrients of the vine. The stages of vine growth can be seen in another poetic room, the varietal garden, and a little further on you're invited to experience the annual cycle of vine life and maintenance through light effects and a 16-screen display.

Equally immersive is the press room of the historic Maison POMMERY, a precious testimony to the work carried out by hundreds of men and women between 1902 and 2002, and whose memory is revived by the typical smell of freshly pressed grape juice. It's impossible to talk about Champagne without mentioning the effervescence that produces the famous golden bubbles that make it the drink of exceptional moments.

On this subject, you can have fun creating your own bubbles simply by touching the inside of a bottle or flute! It's a complete, fun way to discover how champagne is made, culminating in a tasting of 2 champagnes or 2 grape juices, or, for those who wish to continue the experience, by a visit to the workshops, temporary exhibitions or boutique.
