Made in France: the candles of Maison Tchin Tchin

Candles with scents inspired by the aromas of grape varieties: this is the idea that a wine merchant had when looking for an original gift to offer. For this unique product on the market, Maison Tchin Tchin brings together several areas of expertise (oenology, perfumery, glassmaking and waxwork) in an eco-responsible and Made in France approach.

A unique product on the market

In 2019, looking for a gift for his wife, the wine merchant Guillaume Etienne noticed that the market of indoor candles always proposes the same perfumes in containers with little variety and, smelling them one by one, he made the parallel with the frequent blind tastings in his profession. He then had the idea of joining forces with another "nose", a perfumer, to create subtle and gourmet ambient scents. His objective: to share his passion for wine in a new educational and aesthetic way.

In order to create this decorative design object, he has also adopted a sustainable approach: the candle glasses are made from recycled wine bottles and each product is handcrafted with a 100% vegetable wax. Trained in the crafts of wax and glass, the wine merchant spent 12 months looking for the right partner perfumer (French and independent) and developing the concentrates.

Original olfactory creations

The result of the meeting of two "noses", Tchin Tchin home fragrances smell neither wine nor alcohol and offer unique aromas to rediscover 8 great French grape varieties.

For example, Chardonnay, the most famous white wine of Burgundy, has vanilla and lightly toasted accents. Its white fruit and citrus notes are translated into a candle fragrance with orange blossom and Ceylon cinnamon (for the top notes), vanilla, labdanum and opoponax for the middle notes, and patchouli, creamy sandalwood and Virginia cedar for the base notes.

For Bordeaux lovers, the Merlot candle version takes some of these components and adds prune, chocolate and mocha flavors to match the dark fruit aromas with woody notes of the popular grape.

I wanted to design the perfect gift for all wine lovers.

Guillaume Etienne, fondateur de Maison Tchin Tchin

Aimed at wine lovers but also at neophytes or simply interior decoration lovers, Tchin Tchin candles are made in Nice (not far from Grasse, the world capital of perfume) and use wine bottles partly collected from restaurants and wine shops. Once transformed, they fit perfectly in a cosy interior decoration and illustrate well, with this name Tchin Tchin, the French art of living: the pleasure of toasting with your loved ones around a warm and friendly moment.

The international appeal of this famous "French lifestyle" has enabled the innovative company to sell its products in Europe, the USA, Canada and China. To find the candles you're looking for, visit one of the 300 boutiques (concept-stores, department stores, selective wine merchants, châteaux boutiques...) that carry them.
