Le Slip français

At a time when industries are asked to produce more and more locally and more and more ethically, the textile world still needs to prove itself in this field. In France, one of the leading figures of this movement for some years now is the brand of underwear and accessories Le Slip Français. Created in 2012 by Guillaume Gibault, the company continues its beautiful journey on the road to success.

To change the world, change your underpants

The founder's bet seven years ago was to make his company 100% French. How can we reinvent the textile production, from manufacturing to packaging, through labels and photo shoots? Le Slip Français is the symbol of a brand committed to produce a positive impact on the society and the environment. All the manufacturing stages of the products are Made in France.

In a modern way, Guillaume Gibault and his team have the determination to put French know-how and workshops at the heart of the textile production. The first 600 products were produced at a factory in the Dordogne region, they partnered with the Lemahieu workshops in Saint-André, a specialist in the fabrication of underwear, the swimsuits are produced in Rennes and the socks in Limoges.

All the underpants are made from cotton, which is imported, but guaranteed non-toxic for the body and the environment.

Sitting on success

Today, Le Slip français has a turnover of nearly 25 millions Euro, close to 42 French partner workshops and some 50 employees.

Their bestseller is of course the underpants, and if for now the vast majority of sales are made on the Internet, there are already 19 own stores and more than 200 resellers throughout France.

Their collections are enriched every year: boxer shorts, pyjamas, pullovers, slippers etc.

A successful bet

As Guillaume Gibault explains, he believes in the automatisation to maintain the costs of his production in France, in reducing his margins by sticking to a limited number of models. The brand is also in the process of finding an alternative to cotton, such as linen, of which France is one of the first producers, or even the nettle, which would reduce water consumption.

The result of a sort of funny bet, and from the willingness to produce men's underwear Made in France, Le Slip Français has become an ethical and innovative leader in the textile world. Since its launch, a women's line has also been launched. This unconventional Frenchie company, with its modern and efficient advertising campaigns, has managed to conquer the hearts of the French and contributes, at its level, in changing the mode of consumption.
