Originally from Seattle in the United States, I now live in a small hamlet of Aire sur la Lys. My house is actually situated where the troops of Louis XIII settled during the first siege of Aire in 1641. The little church, 200 meters from my home, is classified as a historic monument. Can you imagine what that means to me as an American?
Now that I am semi-retired, (a continuing education teacher for companies of the region), I have the immense pleasure of being able to deepen my knowledge in history and therfore enrich my tours of the area, a pleasure that I would like to share with you.
Learning is a lifelong process, and I am only at the beginning! I dip into the ancient depths of our town, follow History Geography and Heritage courses at university, and what I learn I put to the service of my guided tours. My experience as a teacher should be useful in communicating the joy of discovery.
