The Lalique Museum

It is in Wingen-sur-Moder, a small Alsatian village in the heart of the Vosges forest, that the glass and crystal factory founded by René Lalique has been located for a century. Nowadays renowned throughout the world, the company has been able to preserve its quality know-how and traditions.

The founding father

René Lalique is considered today as one of the greatest jewellers of his time. Inspired by the artistic trend of Art Nouveau, he makes his jewellery on the theme of fauna and flora. He did not hesitate to combine unusual materials for jewellery of the time: glass, enamel, ivory, mother-of-pearl or semi-precious stones, which contributed to his popularity.

In the early 1900s, he met perfumer François Coty, with whom he collaborated on the creation of a bottle. Seduced by the workings of glass and the play of light that emanates from this material, Lalique will then specialize solely in the creation of glass objects, particularly perfume bottles.

The museum

Today the reputation of the Lalique company is well established. Taken over by René Lalique's descendants, the know-how of crystal has been added to that of glass. Not far from the factory, the museum dedicated to it allows you to come and discover more than 650 works as well as the working methods and the evolution of techniques over the years.

From creative designs to jewellery, through an entire room dedicated to perfume bottles, you will be able to admire exceptional pieces such as the famous "L'air du temps" by Nina Ricci or a service created especially for the King and Queen of England.

Between craftsmanship and real works of art, don't wait any longer to discover this beautiful museum
