While most of these megaliths were built in 3,000 BC, some of the installations are more recent and bear witness to the importance of religion in Breton society.
The highest menhir in the area, that of Saint-Uzec in Pleumeur-Bodou is impressive by its size but especially by its sculptures. Made in the 17th century at the request of the priest Julien Maunoir (called "the apostle of Brittany"), they represent the Passion of Christ. A little further south, a dolmen rehabilitated into a crypt is dedicated to an Islamic-Christian cult.
On the pink granite coast, looking for dolmens and megaliths is a particularly enjoyable activity. It will take you on the traces of the most beautiful landscapes of this unique setting in the world and will allow you to discover the history of this territory with such strong symbolism.
