PICTO CHIC Created with Sketch.

The perfume, a precious know-how

Surrounded by an aura of mystery, perfume intrigues and fascinates us so much by its enigmatic creation. A true elixir of beauty since Cleopatra, perfume has gained its place as a French emblem.

Noses, flowers, notes

The very first alcohol-based fragrance was the perfume of the Queen of Hungary, made from rosemary and  turpentine.

The noses, the creators of perfumes, imagine the composition.
It consists of three notes:

  • the top note,
  • the middle note,
  • the base note.

Then the raw materials come into action.

They must be natural and it's most often flowers that are used to make a fragrance. The perfume is extracted by distillation.

If today alcohol-based perfumes are the most commonly found, you can also find some "Eaux de parfum" (lighter) perfumes) or oily and compact (solid perfumes).

To find out more, visit the Musée Fragonard in Paris.
