In 1980 Gérald and Liliane Singer, a farming couple, transformed their farm into a park to present the European fauna: deer, lynx, bison and wolves...
To learn more about these animal species, you can take one of the 4 observation trails and discover over 1,500 animals living in semi-liberty in conditions close to their natural environment.
More specifically, the park is home to 130 species of wildlife, including 48 mammals, 46 birds, 5 reptiles and 17 species of arthropods (invertebrates such as insects and crustaceans). The park also contributes to the reintroduction of European species and sees its wildlife reproduce at a rate of around one hundred births per year.
Concerned about the well-being of its residents, the park tries to recreate as much as possible the conditions in which the animals live in the wild. Due to their semi-liberty, they are not always easy to observe.
However, so that the public can nevertheless enjoy them, raised platforms arranged in terraces (equipped with telescopes) are set up. While offering visitors various observation points, these spaces allow for the animals' tranquillity to be respected.
Similarly, in order not to hinder the autonomy of the wild animals, measures have been put in place: the brown bears in the park, for example, have practically no direct contact with man, their food being concealed in the two hectares that make up their space.
Berries are also placed under tree trunks and fish are thrown into the river to force the bear to look for food itself.
Sleep opposite the wolves or stay among black bears, American bison, coyotes or raccoons: it's all possible thanks to the various lodges in the park, which takes on the air of its American cousin, Yellowstone.
Created in 2010 and, in some cases, inspired by the stories of the famous writer/adventurer, these lodges with their original architecture invite you to plunge into the world of the great outdoors, while allowing you to observe the animals living there in complete peace and quiet.
A change of scenery guaranteed!
