Visiting Mont-Saint-Michel is great. Visiting it during one of Europe's most impressive natural phenomena is (even) better :). Normandy's most visited monument, and one of France's top ten, is well worth a visit, but its natural environment still holds many surprises in store!

When the moon, sun and earth are aligned, a few hours after the full and new moons, the tides are impressive and offer an extraordinary spectacle!
And it is on the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel that this natural phenomena is the most important in Europe with a difference of 15 metres between low and high tides.
When the sea retreats 15 kilometres from the coast and rises, you can admire the tidal bore waves, huge endless waves on which kayakers have a great time surfing!
