The Loire by bike

Sit on your bike and discover the gentle way of life in the Loire Valley, the cradle of the French Renaissance! Over nearly 900km, the Loire by bike is a route that invites you to discover the greatest riches of a cultural and natural heritage listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Landscapes, towns and villages

The route of the Loire by bike crosses many towns and villages of character rich in a heritage emblematic of the French art of living.

A stop in the troglodytic village of Turquant, not far from Saumur, will allow you to discover the various craftsmen who have settled there over the centuries. A visit to Sancerre will give you the opportunity to taste the wines of an appellation with a varied panorama.

The discovery of Tours, its tree-lined squares and half-timbered houses will delight the most urban among you, as will that, much further west, of Saint-Nazaire and its industrial heritage.

Castles of the Loire Valley

The Loire by bike also offers the possibility to discover the most beautiful castles of this incredible region.

The most traditional cyclists will stop to take a picture of the emblematic castles of Chambord, Chenonceau and Cheverny, but the ride is above all an opportunity to discover more intimate monuments such as the castle of Langeais, the wedding place of Charles VII and Anne of Brittany, or that of Clos-Lucé, the last residence of Leonardo da Vinci.

Passing through the door of this monument means entering the daily life of one of the greatest geniuses of History...

Easy to practice, ideal for families and amateur cyclists, the Loire Bicycle Route follows, as its name suggests, the course of one of the most important rivers in France. Built, natural, wine-growing or gastronomic heritage: the countless riches of the Loire have been delighting tourists and locals alike for many years.
