The Valley of the Saints

Situated in Carnoët in the Côtes-d'Armor, the Valley of the Saints is an ambitious project carried out by an association recognised as being of general interest. A true Breton Easter Island, it presents imposing sculptures representing Saints from the Celtic culture in an exceptional natural setting.

The origins of the project

Created in 2008, the association La Vallée des Saints has set itself the challenge of creating a place with the objective of "safeguarding, discovering and promoting Breton popular culture linked to the Breton Saints in the form of artistic creation".

The place chosen for the installation of monumental sculptures representing them is located in the village of Carnoët, 15 minutes from the town of Carhaix, known for hosting the famous festival Les Vieilles Charrues.

In an absolutely unique site composed of a feudal mound, a chapel, an archaeological site and an exceptional viewpoint, the association installs 5 to 7 new sculptures every year; the objective is to reach a total of 1,000 stone giants!

An ever-growing success

Since 2016, no less than 600,000 visitors have come to discover this highly symbolic place. In just a few years, it has become an essential and extremely unifying place; many patrons participate in the creation and installation of the sculptures. Every year, from May to October, it is possible to come and watch them being created.

1,500 years ago, monks or priests from Great Britain settled on the Breton coast to leave their mark on this territory and make the region what it is today. The Valley of the Saints now pays them a well-deserved tribute and allows a wide public to admire and get to know them.

All year round, guided tours are organised to enable visitors to learn more about the culture of Brittany, a land of legends and wonderful beliefs.
