A few kilometres from Lorient lies one of Brittany's hidden treasures: the ria d'Etel, a 15 kilometre long bay dotted with islands, islets and small peaks. A wetland area adored by birds and particularly suitable for the production of oysters, the ria is home to pretty ports and a few villages, including Saint-Cado, a true haven of peace linked to the land by a single stone bridge.
Legend has it that this bridge is the result of a bitter negotiation between Saint Cado and the devil. The devil finally agreed to build a bridge in exchange for the soul of the one who would cross it for the first time... Unfortunately for him, the first passer-by was a cat! The village then formed around a wonderful little Romanesque chapel built in the 12th century. Nearby, a stone construction was for a long time considered to be the "bed of Saint Cado"; people suffering from deafness would lie down there to try to regain their hearing.
