Discovering the Loire vineyard and its history
This walk, starting from the Château de Montreuil-Bellay, will take you to discover the Loire vineyard and its history. It is an opportunity to go back in time and discover the evolution of wine making techniques, from antiquity to nowadays, through amusing historical anecdotes. You will learn more about the vine, the grape varieties, the terroir, the viticultural work and the wines of course!
After the walk in the vineyards, you will also discover a part of the old town of Montreuil-Bellay, an ancient medieval walled city, as well as the banks of the river Thouet. The Château de Montreuil-Bellay, one of the last great châteaux of the Loire to make its own wines, will welcome you for a tasting of Saumur wines, reds, whites, rosés, and Crémants de Loire.

Not accessible to strollers and PMR. Animals accepted. It is possible to buy wines on the spot (credit card, cash, check). Equipment to bring : shoes adapted to walking, water bottle, warm clothes or hat/cap according to the season.
