Since 2012, the city of Nantes has been promoting its cultural heritage through a route composed of some forty stages. As you stroll through the city, you can follow this route along the green line drawn on the ground that will guide you to the different stages of the journey through Nantes and in particular towards the spectacular "Machines de l'Île".
The famous green line runs through the entire city and its surroundings for 12 kms, it crosses all the emblematic places of the city. Historic streets, imposing architectural monuments, remnants of the past or collections of modern works of art, viewpoints, museums, exhibitions: art and history are omnipresent in the city and yet often ignored.
This trip can be taken throughout the year, but it is in the summer that it takes its full extent! Artistic exhibitions of all kinds are offered from July to September in public squares. The city is transformed into a museum with its open-air galleries. Artists, architects, designers and gardeners juxtapose their own creations with the works already indicated by the green line. On every street corner there is a plethora of various and varied artistic expressions and above all its free!
