The " Marque Ville Impériale " association brings together 18 partner towns and villages that share the same desire to bring the Napoleonic heritage to life. Rich in their historical heritage, they propose an "imperial tour" to explore France and discover the emblematic sites of the two Empires.
The Marque Ville Impériale was founded on October 21st 2011 at Malmaison Castle thanks to the initiative of the town of Rueil-Malmaison. From there on, a partnership with the cities of Compiègne, Fontainebleau and Saint-Cloud was created to develop a network of French cities whose shared ambition was to valorize the heritage relating to the First and Second Empires.
Tours were then set up through the various patrimonial treasures of the member cities, which includes Ajaccio, Biarritz, Île d'Aix, Nice, Rambouillet and also La Roche-sur-Yon. You can create your own itinerary via this website where all the essential places of a Napoleonic journey are listed. Castles, museums, parks, churches, statues: so many monuments which, thanks to the Napoleonic imprint and the desire of "Ville Impériale" to make this heritage prosper, are now part of the wealth of the French historical and cultural heritage!
