The Wine Museum in Paris

Located in old quarries that were used as wine cellars in the Middle Ages, the wine museum is ironically located... right next to the rue des eaux (water street) in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.
2,000 objects on this multi-millennial know-how can be discovered in impressive vaulted cellars where various animations and tastings await the amateurs of the most famous of the French immaterial heritages.

An incredible site near the Eiffel Tower

In the heart of Paris, the Wine Museum is located on the former lands of the Passy Abbey which, from 1493, cultivated a few acres of vines on what was then the Chaillot hill. In the 17th century, the Rue des Eaux was opened: it takes its name from the mineral water springs discovered on the spot and, still today, one can observe a lightning well with a square rim.

With the suppression of the religious orders after the french Revolution of 1789, the abbey is gradually destroyed and it is only in 1950 that the old cellars of the convent of the Minimes are rehabilitated, they will become then (in 1984) the current Wine Museum. This one is the property of the Council of Echansons of France, a wine brotherhood created in 1954 and gathering (in France and abroad) great amateurs of the delicious beverage. Their mission (and passion): the defense and promotion of French wine in the world.

A historical and gourmet immersion

In addition to admiring the rich collection of objects related to the work of the vine and wine, you can participate in activities offered by sommeliers, wine experts and oenologists. Conferences, temporary exhibitions, thematic evenings (for example on wines and dishes from European Union countries) or meals in the restaurant "Les Echansons": there are many good reasons to enter this atypical and charming place.

For private events (seminars, parties, dinners...), the Wine Museum can also organize oenological animations or thematic workshops playing, in particular, on the olfactory and gustatory senses.
