If Paris is known worldwide for attracting the greatest artists, the French capital is also rich in hundreds of craftsmen honored in the framework of the ParisLocal event. An annual rendezvous to promote local commerce and Made in Paris products.
Created in 2021 by the Tourist Office and the City, ParisLocal promotes the richness and diversity of talent working in working in the French capital and in 3 departments of Ile de France (92, 93 and 94): hat makers, jewelers, cheese makers, ceramists, glass blowers, textile designers...
The objective of this now annual event? To encourage encounters with those who bring their precious know-how to life on a daily basis and, at the same time, to promote a more authentic and responsible trade.
Open doors, tastings, demonstrations, visits to workshops...: for 3 days, about 500 artisans reveal their trade and exchange directly with Parisians, Ile-de-France residents or visitors (French and foreign) in search of quality and original products.
Supported by the various borough councils, the ParisLocal event encourages the many standard-bearers of Parisian craftsmanship to offer curious visitors activities based on values such as transmission, sustainability, beauty and innovation. For the 2021 edition, one could, for example, attend the making of bread and urban beer, admire the dexterity required for feather work or gold leafing, taste haute-patisserie or admire the latest creations of jewelers and goldsmiths.
By inviting people to enter shops, workshops or factories, ParisLocal offers a new way to discover the Parisian territory while supporting the short circuit trade. The event is also ideal for finding sustainable and "Made in Paris" gifts for, especialy, the end-of-year celebrations, while making great encounters.
Since its creation, the event has been held over 3 days in November, but this year (2024) it's a summer edition, with over 350 artisans choosing to keep their doors open during the Olympic Games.
Between 2 sports competitions, visitors from all over the world will be able to enjoy workshops, tastings or demonstrations at these ambassadors of local craftsmanship, grouped together on Myparisjetaime.com in a practical geolocated map.
Independently of the Olympic Games period, the ParisLocal Boutique website is also a great way to support Parisian craftsmanship.
Carefully selected items, made from eco-responsible materials and produced in short circuits, are on offer for authentic, original and responsible gifts.
So don't hesitate to push open the doors of participating artisans (identifiable by a ParisLocal window sticker on the front of their store or workshop) or support them online this summer or... all year round.
