The label Village Patrimoine©, which appeared in Flanders in 2009, brings together Flemish villages that distinguish themselves for their regional heritage elements. The network enhances these typical villages and introduces you to remarkable sites off the beaten track.
Created in 2003, on the initiative of the Pays de la Baie du Mont-Saint-Michel, Village Patrimoine© has become a national label that has subsequently developed in other regions, notably in Flanders, the North of france or in Artois and Ternois regions of the Pas-de-Calais.
The labelled villages wish to enhance an architectural, natural or landscape heritage and take action in favour of the living environment and the preservation of the environment.
In Destination Coeur de Flandre, you can independently visit the 13 Villages Patrimoine© throughout the year, thanks to a guidebook that will show you the remarkable points of the village.
If you want to know the secrets of these villages, you can also choose to be accompanied by a village guide.
Differnet ways to visit are proposed: gourmet tours, on foot, in a horse-drawn carriage or even on horseback, you are spoilt for choice!
In 2019, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the label, Destination Coeur de Flandre offers a tourist rally in collaboration with the labelled municipalities.
Until September 22nd, you can try to win a hot air balloon flight or a gourmet meal in a Flemish Estaminet© by answering a list of questions thanks to the clues found in the villages.
