The Do it yourself culinary trend

In recent years the French have found their way back to the kitchens. The DIY ("do it yourself" or "do it yourself") trend is in full swing in several areas, particularly food. Recipe websites, pastry making courses, videos on how to make dishes or home gardens have been a success: the desire to take control of what we eat has become a permanent fixture.

"I create therefore I am".

Do-it-yourself, decoration or cooking : today 3 out of 4 French people practice a "home-made" activity in their leisure time. A way to challenge the commercial system while having fun and developing their knowledge. Other virtues of the DIY: to reinforce self-confidence by valuing one's talents, to be more environmentally friendly or to forge links by sharing one's passion with a community.
The big winner of this trend: traditional cuisine, which, after the reign of ready-made meals and several health scandals, is back on the scene. This renewed interest in "eating well" translates into concrete action: learning about the origin of products, going to the market and (re)taking the time to prepare meals. We all remember the craze for making bread during periods of confinement.
Particularly favoured by active people and young people, these practices are boosting the turnover of organic retailers and the sale of fresh produce.

Ready to take on the role of a pastry chef?

To get off to a good start, Parisian apprentice chefs can, for example, take part in the dessert classes offered by Lili & Clo.
While discovering the secrets of preparing French cakes in the company of a passionate chef, the budding pastry chefs will be able to make and then taste their creations for 2 hours.

Whether you prefer chocolate mousse or puff pastry, red fruits or caramel, several workshops are available to help you learn about the ingredients and flavours: sweet cabbage, seasonal fruits, macaroons, tarts or the "La vie en rose" workshop.

Each class ends with a good glass of champagne to congratulate the gourmands. Conviviality and good humour guaranteed!

To book your first workshop go to the Lili&Clo website.
