A Sunday in the XIX arrondissement of Paris

In France on Sunday, most of the shops and cultural places are closed. But it's possible to find some places that are open, where you can to recharge your batteries for a few hours. If like me you do not know what to do, here are some ideas for a Sunday in Paris in the 19th arrondissement.

From a lie-in to a hearty brunch

If your Saturday was rich in activities from morning to evening, for me, a Sunday morning lie-in is obvious. Just time to get ready and head towards l'impasse de Joinville. There, you will find the Café 108 that invites you to come and enjoy a delicious brunch.
Push the doors of this café that has a double-function. In addition to being a restaurant, it's also a library "La Librarie des Orgues". For literature lovers or for the curious, it's possible to have lunch while reading a book in the bright veranda. On the menu, simple, delicious and quality dishes. You prefer savoury food? You will find cold meats, cheese and various salads to choose from. Not to mention the timeless scrambled eggs! For the sweeter taste buds, you won't be able to leave without having tasted the wide array of cakes and traditional morning pastries, accompanied by a tea, coffee or hot chocolate. A Brunch just like a homemade one!

The address: 4 Impasse de Joinville - 75019 Paris
Open from 11:30am to 15:00pm

For the curious

Less than 20 minutes walking distance away, is the parish of Saint-Serge. Camouflaged in a green setting, only the well informed passers-by know what is hiding here! The building once welcomed many German emigrants and then Russian refugees. Abandoned in 1918, it was acquired by the church on day of Saint-Serge, where it gets it name from.
The architecture is atypical and far from Parisian style. The exterior is of colourful wood and the interior was decorated by the Russian painter Dimitri Semyonovich Stelletsky, in a pure neo-Gothic style, typically Russian. On Sunday there is a Mass service, if you are lucky and if you arrive before 1pm, you can visit the church by yourself, otherwise you can contact the guide. ( Milan Radulovic 06 32 68 41 92 )

For the even more curious, you can continue your stroll and go and see an exhibition held at the CENTQUATRE-PARIS. Not only a place where art is created and diffused, it is also a residence for artists, developed in a collaborative form, there are exhibitions of artists from all over the world. The 104 offers many programmes that change regularly, and you can even visit the workshops and discover the makings of some of the works of art.

In addition to the exhibitions, there are plenty of activities you can do here, but you need to book in advance. The 104 also has activities suitable for children.

The Hidden Café

Somewhere hidden in the midst of the 104, there is a café. The Hidden Café offers a very 1950's decor, imagined by a former resident and artist, Sebastien Wierinck. Before you leave, take the time to relax and taste the freshly squeezed fruit juices. And if you are feeling a little peckish after all your adventuring around, there are sweet and savoury snacks on the menu!

A tip, the cafe is accessible by the rue d' Aubervilliers!
